Smart storage for holiday decorations
You can’t put a dollar value on your family’s treasured holiday ornaments. Follow these simple steps to ensure they’re enjoyed for years to come…

• Ornaments will last longer if you store them at room temperature versus a cool basement or garage, where they may be destroyed by mildew. Attics are okay for storing glass ornaments, but be sure to store candles and homemade decorations elsewhere because the heat during the summer can damage them.
• Avoid wrapping your ornaments in newspaper (the ink may transfer and ruin your precious bulbs)! Protect your fragile ornaments by storing them in their original packages or by wrapping them with a few layers of white tissue paper. Put the prepackaged ornaments in a sturdy box or plastic storage bin to help prevent breakage.
• Save your ribbons and unused wrapping paper in a bin so they’re not too crushed and wrinkled to use when you need them.
• Keep lights and garlands tangle-free by wrapping them around a sturdy piece of cardboard, then store them separately in a rubber bin.
