Act like a guy – eat before the party
This holiday season, take a tip from the guy's playbook and avoid overindulging at the Christmas Party Buffet.
Before we leave the house for any dinner party, you will inevitably find my husband in the kitchen rifling down the contents of the refrigerator. He does this for three reasons.
First, he’s always hungry.
Second, he’s worried the hostess might not be serving anything he likes and he’ll end up ravenous by night’s end.
And third, he knows how I detest the midnight trip to the fast-food joint.
This holiday season, take a tip from his playbook and avoid over indulging at the Christmas Party Buffet.
It’s a well known fact that when you’re hungry, everything looks good, so take the edge off before you leave the house. Have an apple and a slice of cheese, or a handful of nuts and fresh vegetables. You’ll be amazed how much more rational you are about food choices when your stomach isn’t acting like the man-eating plant in Little Shop of Horrors, screaming, “feed me!”
P.S. Don’t forget to chase that pre-party snack down with a healthy glass of water, especially if you plan on cocktailing. You’ll feel fuller and it will help to prevent a hangover if you do overindulge.
