Assembling mitres Photo: Handyman
TO CHECK FOR SQUARE use a builder’s square or position the pieces around the backing.
If they’re the right length but the angles are wrong there will be gaps in the joints so cut the mitres again or plane the surface.
APPLY PVA ADHESIVE to both surfaces of the joint, wipe away the excess then position the sides together using masking tape to hold them while securing with framing clamps.
TIP Use a frame clamping system to hold the mitres while they dry as the adhesive can make them slip.
