Top Tips for a successful karaoke performance – by World Champion Michael Bates:

1) Believe in yourself and your abilities
2) Have an idea about what song you are going to do – you need to know it if you are going to perform well. Use the words as a guide.
3) Don’t take it too seriously – at the end of the day it’s just karaoke and you can always get up and do another song to redeem yourself
4) Capture the moment for yourself and for the audience
5) Have fun – whether you want to have a few drinks and sing Kay San or aspire to be a recording artist, make sure you enjoy it. The moment I stop loving what I do is the that moment I stop.
